Street Fighter x Tekken: Pac Man & Mega Man Join The PS3/Vita Versions

January 28, 2012 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - News and Chit-Chat

Not content with Toro and Kuro, Capcom are continuing to add quirky characters to the PS3 and Vita versions of Street Fighter x Capcom. As speculated on last week’s Co-Op podcast, retro icon Pac Man will be given the opportunity to trade blows with the likes of Heihachi and Ryu because, well… Why not! The trailer below shows Pac in action and reveals that he actually uses Mokujin’s body to fight which is both hilarious and awesome in equal parts.

Another gaming icon joining the mix is Mega Man, but before you get too excited I encourage you to check out the trailer first!

As someone who hates small characters in fighting games I was really worried about the inclusion of Pac Man and Mega Man but after seeing gameplay footage of them both I’m pretty happy the results. Die-hard Mega Man fans will probably view this as a slap in the face but that’s partly why I love it so much.

Well played Capcom!

Get Addicted to ‘Defender’s Quest’

Level Up Labs brings players a cheap game that caters to both casual and hardcore gamers. Defender’s Quest, a combination of RPG and tower defense gameplay, places you in the middle of a settlement bursting with monsters. In between the realm of life and death the protagonist, a young lady, assembles a group of people not affected by the plague. Together they try to escape this unruly world.

The game is only $6.99. Gamers don’t have to worry about paying for expansions because all future updates are free when you buy the game. Level Up Labs plans to release a bonus version of the game in a few months at $9.99. The bonus version will have secrets and extended end-game content.

The game runs on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, so everyone can have fun. The game also offers customizable characters, which is a pet peeve of mine, and comes with over 34 maps.

Defender’s Quest offers casual missions, which can be completed in a few hours, and advanced and extreme missions that can take up to 30+ hours to complete.

If you’re a fan of either tower defense or RPGs, this could the next game that distracts you from your work. It’s better than saying you were playing CastleVille

PokerRoom: Back and Here to Stay

January 20, 2012 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Reviews

For those of you that are new to the world of online poker, you may not have known about PokerRoom’s long-lived fame of the early 2000s. Though PokerRoom has been on a brief hiatus from 2009 to 2012, it’s back, and it’s here to stay! As far as us poker room are concerned, there are very few that compare to the virtual rooms of PokerRoom tournaments, which allow professional players to rub elbows with average people who simply enjoy playing the game for fun, instead of money.

PokerRoom isn’t just back, because it’s more than that – it has new games, new tournaments, and a new online tutorial for beginner through advanced players – it’s on the way to another top rating in the online poker world. So you may not know very much about PokerRoom, other than a brief history at this point, but don’t just take my word for how awesome it is, take the word of almost twenty thousand players who have signed up since PokerRoom came back online in 2012. Even if you are a doubter, you have to know that eighteen thousand plus people can’t all be wrong, and so maybe, just maybe, PokerRoom really is the best of the best when it comes to online poker.

So if you are a serious fan of poker games – or if you are just thinking about getting started, maybe picking up a new hobby, then you have come to the right place, because even though PokerRoom has just returned to the world of online poker, it is far from unprepared to pick up where it left off. Now, with their new and improved Poker School, PokerRoom is better than ever at teaching beginners the ropes of the games, and showing the more advanced players exactly how the card games really work.

And that’s not all, because there are more tournaments scheduled now that PokerRoom is back in business, so you can play against lower level players, or try your hand against those that play the game for a living. And if you are just looking to get better at your craft, then you might want to try some of the cash games that are going on all the time – games like Texas Holdem, Five Card Draw, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud, are available for you to play at your leisure.

The Best Games Of 2012: Max Payne 3

January 13, 2012 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - News and Chit-Chat

Full Title: Max Payne 3
Developer: Rockstar Vancouver, New England, London and Toronto studios.
Publisher: Rockstar
Platforms: Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC
Release Date: March 2012

I’m a huge fan of the Max Payne games. The gritty neo-noir third person shooter quickly became one of my favourite PS2 games, and I have since bought the games on Steam to relive Remedy’s awesome contribution to last gen. I was happy when I learned that the franchise was making a comeback, and although Remedy aren’t behind this one, the game is in good hands with Rockstar who put out quality titles consistently. According to Rockstar’s Sam Houser, it is their intention on starting a new chapter of Max Payne’s life with the game.

“This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever.” Says Houser

Of course no Max Payne game is complete without Bullet Time, so of course this is back and better than ever. There is also something known as “Last Man Standing” which gives Max a reprieve from death for a small period if he’s got one painkiller on him. If the player is able fill the enemy that delivered the wounding shot with bullets he’ll recover enough energy to soldier on. This with the shoot dodge being brought back better than ever (allowing you to stay grounded, shooting from the floor after you land) ensures that Max will be taking out the baddies in style.

The games’s scheduled for release in March 2012 – but until then look out for tons of exclusive Max Payne related content from us (hint hint).

Code of Princess trailer. So I’ve got some bad news, for those of us who wanted to dismiss the game out of hand for being based on one piece of silly character art: this looks way fun. Developer Agatsuma touted having some of Treasure’s Guardian Heroes team on board, and now I see why — it’s a very Guardian Heroes-like brawler.

With realllllly good animation.

More bad news: nobody has announced a Western release yet. Agatsuma has been sending out English press releases lately, but not for any reason that I can tell, just to let us all know about its Japanese game.

Buy: Nintendo 3DS (Flame Red, Black, & Blue)
