Best DSiWare/WiiWare/Virtual Console games, 2010 handheld releases

December 31, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - News and Chit-Chat

I meant to share these two links with you forever ago, but I kept getting distracted by Pokemon Spirit comics, Love Plus Christmas dates, and other easy posts that wrote themselves. Enjoy these stale articles!

  • JC wrote an excellent Holiday Buyer’s Guide for DSiWare, WiiWare, and Virtual Console titles at Joystiq. Christmas is already long behind us, barely visible in the horizon, but it’s still a great collection of quality releases on Nintendo’s download platforms. Also, if anyone gifted you Nintendo Points cards, here’s how to spend them!
  • And I published an obligatory Top 5 list for the year’s best DS and PSP releases at Gamasutra. I was happy to spotlight a couple games that most sites neglected to include in their own end-of-year lists.

Yay for people employing us.

Buy: Special Edition Red Nintendo DSi XL bundle, DSi XL (Blue, Burgundy, & Bronze), Standard DSi (White, Pink, Black, & Blue), Standard DSi Orange & Green bundles

The Shooting and Action Games

December 31, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Reviews

The Shooting games are all games (as well as genres that encompass) that the playable characters have guns and can be used freely. There are several ways to determine if it is a shooting game; the most important features are listed below. With the features below, it is possible to categorize almost all video shooting. Perspective; The player usually sees the events from behind the character’s eyes (those of first-person shooter ) or the eye or camera is displayed behind the character behind it, usually a few feet behind him (those of action third person). Also possible during videogames, camera goes changing position. Realism; Games that simulate the realism in ballistics and damage the character are called games of tactics. They use a physical space for more careful than in other games.

Number of characters; Many shooting games, the character often acts against the enemy, but there are other games that let you control a squad of soldiers from command, but usually one is controlled directly, so the other characters meet orders flocks thanks to artificial intelligence . In the shooting game that the combat is cooperative, i.e., in the form of squad, but only controls a character without having power over others, are not considered games squads. Multiplayer; if a game shooting mode is available to play online, you may have variants in various modes of game play. If the game is played enemies and is all against all this is one. The 5 Best Xbox 360 games ever

December 29, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Reviews

The Xbox has, since its release, been associated with moving gaming forward as an entertainment medium. While its ubiquity has ensured that there have been more than a few duds released for it, there high quality xbox 360 games that it has hosted – which often focus on storytelling or innovation just as much as gameplay or lucrative e tie-in deals – more than make up for the former.

1. Bioshock
The Beauty of Irrational Games’ modern classic goes beyond its story – which is strong in terms of background but weak in terms of true narrative – and breaks ground in the immersion created by the atmosphere – which is astonishing from start to finish, due in no small part to the lack of any cut scenes in the traditional sense.

2. Viva Pinata
Gaming has gone a long way beyond the sports sims and shooters that, at one point, dominated the market. Viva Pinata is a perfect example of how a game can exploit nothing but the players’ imagination to create a vibrant and exciting online world.

3. Fallout 3
There is no deeper, more immersive, more variable story in any game ever released. Lots of games purport to be non-linear, but it is that Fallout has come closest to achieving this aim. Decisions made feel as though they have genuine influence on proceedings. If that’s not enough the first-person action handles every bit as well as the best dedicated shooters.

4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
And, speaking of the best dedicated shooters available, Call of Duty 4 has to be considered to be it. The fourth instalment is widely regarded to be the best of the always controversial series, and realism must always court controversy. While CoD has never been innovative, the quality of the execution is head and shoulders above its peers.

5. The Orange Box
While the orange box could potentially be included here for its additions to the Half Life series, but far more worthy of note is Portal, the innovative and excellent physics-base game that wowed reviewers.

Slash Info Tittle

Tis the season to be jolly! Fa la la la la la la la! Ah yes! Can you smell it? Can you feel it? It’s time to open up your presents!!  Did you get that video card you asked for? That expansion you need? The gift card you asked for because it’s a lot easier to get than explain to your mom that WOW stands for World of Warcraft and not an exclamation word?  Yes, yes you did! If you where nice that is…  ¬_¬  Let’s get to the news, shall we?

We are the Champions, my friend!

Once Nsoft’s possible Marvel online game, Champions Online is doing great with their free-to-play beta and they are on track for an early 2011 launch.  Good to hear, since after being part of the beta most of us decided that the game was too close to City of Heroes/Villains but with a surplus of bugs (likely all fixed by now) and opted to not join.  Now, the game as a free-to-play?  Sign me up!   But that’s not all!  The winter event from last year is back and they have even more great rewards for all players to enjoy, with a Millennium city all decked out for the occasion.  You can read more details about the event at their page.

Champions is also having a Winter Break Sale, where you can purchase items at the C-store from 10 a.m. Pacific on Friday, December 24, until 10 a.m. Pacific on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 20% off!!!  You can stop putting off buying those awesome pumps for your hero and start the year with a new look!

Nexon Holiday Deals

Nexon is bringing some holiday goodies to their All-Star line-up with massive sales and in-game holiday events!  Some of the holiday activities include increased experience events and winter-themed adventures.  So if you play: Combat Arms, Dungeon Fighter Online,  Mabinogi,  MapleStory, and/or Vindictus, go to Nexon’s page and start enjoying the festivities.

Mc Donalds vintage signMapleStory: One Million Shoppers

The massive multiplayer online game published by Nexon recently surpassed the one million shopper mark; all of which have been conducting micro transactions at the game’s virtual shops.  Whether one billion balloons were released in the game with the millionth shopper treated to free ice cream for a year is unknown; but one thing it’s certain, that’s impressive for a free-to- play game released in 2005.

RIFT! MUM it’s not the word any more:

Upcoming MMORPG Rift is in beta and, of course, those of you already playing had to sign a pesky NDA (non-disclosure agreement) promising to not talk about Rift.  Those rules no longer apply and now you can talk about Rift your heart’s content! Heck! They want you to talk your friend’s ear off about this game!!!

The Story:

Mysterious rifts are tearing the world of Telara apart. A powerful magic explosion during the final days of the Shade War has left the veil between Telara and other planar dimensions fractured and torn.

Treacherous and powerful, these rifts occur when another plane of reality intersects with the magical Ward protecting Telara. Rifts create doorways for planar invasion, destroying the lands and people of Telara, but they may also grant otherworldly power to those brave enough to seize it.
Now no part of Telara is truly safe. Invasions can occur anywhere and at any time, and the danger to the world is growing. Two major factions have emerged to save the world of Telara from the rifts: the Guardian and the Defiant. Each faction works in different ways to preserve Telara’s future, and both seek to undermine the other.

The features:

  • Full-Featured: Guilds, dungeons, raids, auctions, crafting, a vibrant economy, Player vs. Player combat, and more!
  • Deeper Gameplay: New features like Guild Quests and Artifact Collections enhance your gIron Tomb Riftaming experience by giving you earned achievements that matter.
  • Highly Accessible HD Graphics: Play a game that has stunning visuals on virtually any computer, even if your PC isn’t state-of-the-art.
  • World as Your Adversary: Extra-planar creatures surge into the world from rifts, turning bastions of safety into frenzied battlefields. Defeat these monsters and earn unique rewards, or use them to your advantage by forcing enemies to engage them. Your choices impact others!
  • 8 Primal Forces: Creatures from the Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Life, and Death planes battle for control of the world of Telara! Two warring factions—the Guardians and the Defiant—face off against each other and fight creatures from the planes as they seek to save the world.
  • PvP Combat: Battle others in exhilarating Player vs. Player combat! Earn PvP ranks, titles, loot, and unique souls to further enhance your character. Head to cross-server Warfronts and fight others in world PvP.
  • Build Your Class: No other game lets you build your class the way RIFT does. Specialize in a single class or pick and choose abilities from many to create a character uniquely suited to your play style—and have fun while you experiment!
  • Choose Your Role: Each character can have up to four different roles, so you can choose different classes for every situation! You might have one for PvP and another for raids; or perhaps you want a high-damage or high-defense build. The choice is yours to mix and match as you see fit!

In a RPG related news:

Lord of the Rings: War of the North re-launches their website with far more goodies and news about the upcoming RPG game. If you like to keep up with up-to-date news, photos, story details and more, this is the place where you should go.  Apparently it is a “Heaven” of information.

And with that, and photos of our very own Angels in MMORPG action,  I leave you.  It was short, sweet, and to the point because I would never try to keep you away from your toys ;)   Merry Christmas everyone!!!
